Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit (IMC/PCU/Telemetry)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Night Shifts | Every third weekend; every other holiday

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Step Down / PCU / Telemetry setting, managing a patient population that includes sepsis, CHF, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia, and surgical patients (urology, abdominal, ortho)
• Initiate and titrate drips including insulin, heparin, and cardiac medications
• Perform telemetry interpretation; travelers will be required to pass telemetry competency tests
• Document and chart using Epic EMR system; completion of a checkoff class will be required
• Float within skillset as first to float; potential cross-campus float to nearby Indiana campuses with a minimum 2-hour notice provided
• May be required to precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility

Required Qualifications

• Active, current RN Compact License required
• AHA BLS certification required
• AHA ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year of Step Down / PCU experience
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required
• Must not reside within 40 miles of the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, CBI, and blood product administration
• Experience with stable home vents, continuous BiPap, and neutropenic precautions
• Familiarity with stable drip management (e.g., Lasix, Protonix)
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills; ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
